This coming Sunday, December 11, at 2 p.m., The Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale is hosting a Yuletide Universe event with eight local authors who write in the science fiction and fantasy genres. It is a chance to meet and mingle with the authors and pick up some signed books for gifts or for your own reading.

One of the oldest fandoms around is that of fans of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, and Leslie Klinger and Laurie R. King have gathered together new stories from Holmes fans who are also writers for the new anthology A Study in Sherlock. Klinger and King will be at The Poisoned Pen for a group signing for the collection on Saturday, November 19th along with contributors Thomas Perry, Dana Stabenow, and Jacqueline Winspear. Coming up this week are a couple of signings with authors you should get to know at The Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale:
First up on Tuesday, April 19, is Joe R. Lansdale at The Poisoned Pen bookstore. This weekend sees the return of the Tucson Festival of Books to the University of Arizona campus. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm each day. There will be hundreds of authors on hand taking part in presentations and discussion panels and, of course, signing books. Author Carrie Vaughn will be making a couple of stops in the Phoenix area on Wednesday, July 28, in support of her new fantasy novel Discord’s Apple.
