Tickets are now on sale for a live orchestral performance of theme music from Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda games.
The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses kicks off its North American tour Jan. 10 in Dallas before hitting Phoenix on April 20-21 at the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets will set you back from $45 to $140 .
The name “Symphony of the Goddesses,” according to a Nintendo press release, refers to a new four-movement symphony “recounting the classic storylines from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The …

New color for Nintendo DSi XL: Metallic Rose

Starting Sept. 18, the Nintendo DSi XL will be available in a new color: Metallic Rose, which Nintendo describes as “an eye-catching shade of pink with a luminous modern sheen.”
The DSi model meant for people with meatier hands or less-keen eyesight is also available in Bronze, Midnight Blue and Burgundy. It’s available for $169 — the same price as the newer, 3D model in the family.

Nintendo cuts 3DS price amid losses

Good news for people in the market for a portable video game system: Nintendo is slashing the price of its 3DS from $250 to $170, effective Aug. 12.
Bad news for Nintendo: The new lower price is because the company is posting losses and facing up to a lack of hit titles for both the 3DS, which is less than six months out from launch, and the Wii, which has a successor system on the way.
But leave it to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime to spin it in a …

Netflix streaming comes to Nintendo 3DS

Fresh on the heels of announcing pricing changes that are near-criminal considering the poor catalog of online titles (do not get me started), Netflix now is streaming on the Nintendo 3Ds handheld video game system.
Starting today, 3DS owners in the U.S. and Canada with broadband Internet and a Netflix subscription starting at $7.99 can download a free application that will let them watch movies and TV shows.
“The new Netflix application looks great, plays great and is a fantastic consumer experience,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “It …

E3: Nintendo’s Wii U will redefine hand-eye coordination

Nintendo unveiled the successor to its Wii console on Tuesday, introducing the Wii U. Most noticeable about the hardware is a controller with a 6.2-inch screen built in that will allow a family’s TV to be used while a game is being played, or provide alternate display modes when used in tandem with a television set.

Which video games are going in the Smithsonian?

A few months back the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., turned to gamers for help in choosing the video games to be featured in the Art of Video Games exhibit opening next year.
Now the results of the voting, which closed April 7, are in. Voters chose 80 games from a pool of 240 nominees in five different eras.
