Voices + The Old Republic = biscuits and gravy: A warning to SWTOR players

Have you ever heard a voice on the radio, promoting some god-awful-yet-delicious meal or snack, and by the end of the bit you’re seriously considering getting it? Well apparently, it can happen in video games too.
Over the weekend I played the crap out of Star Wars: The Old Republic (like I have been the past few months), and part of it was spent on Tatooine. As I got near the end of the quest line there, I came upon an older looking character that had one of the last quests. …

No more LAN at Gamers’ Inn

The new year has brought more changes at Gamers’ Inn, a popular spot in Mesa for collectible card gamers, tabletop roleplayers and — until now — LAN multiplayer video game enthusiasts.
The store announced on its Facebook page New Year’s Eve that its LAN system would be no more as of Jan. 1. Star Wars: The Old Republic: First impressions

MMOs are hard games to write about. They are a genre of games designed to be played for years and only a few weeks after launch it would almost be impossible for me to tell you what I really think of the game. I have been playing since launch and have two characters around level 25, which when you look at the amount of content, is only just a small portion of the game. I thought I would share my first impressions of a game that I’m sure many of …

The death of used video games?

When I was a younger gamer I had a hard time getting new games. I had to rely mostly on birthdays, holidays, and the kindness of my parents for new games to sink my teeth into. I had one saving grace though. One tool at my disposal to get a new game that I wouldn’t other wise have had the means to obtain: used game stores.
Like millions of other crash-strapped Americans, being able to trade in my old games for shiny new ones has been a real money saver. Not …

The Old Republic playtest set to expand

From all the awesome nerdiness at PAX comes news that Bioware will open a new round of beta testing slots for its long-awaited MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Joystiq reports that invites will go out starting Sept. 2 for people who have signed up to receive announcements. As TheForce.Net points out, you don’t need to pre-order the game to be eligible for beta testing.
SWTOR doesn’t have a specific release date yet, though it’s expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
