Domo arigato, Mesa Roboto – Robot art exhibit to open in Mesa
Kids want robots, and robots want kids, so starting Feb. 7, everybody gets what they want at the new Arizona Museum for Youth exhibition, Art of the Robot, which features the cybernetic creations of fifteen artisans from around the country, including a few from right here the Valley.
Local creators participating in the exhibit include Doug Brannan from Buckeye, whose uncanny robots are said to prevent UFO abductions (which probably explains why we haven’t seen the “Phoenix Lights” in a while); and Aaron Voight of Mesa, whom you might have met at the recent Amazing Arizona Comic Con (he’s the recycled metal sculptor who built the incredible life-sized robot you saw on the way into the convention hall.)
The Art of the Robot exhibition runs from Feb. 7 thru May 25 at the Arizona Museum for Youth in Mesa. In addition to the cool robot art displays, they also have some fun activities planned, such as:
- How’s it made?
- Amazing Bots
- Green Screen Robot Adventures
- Awesome Watercolor Bot
- Tracing Robots
- Bumpin’ Robot Obstacle Course
