Old school monsters showcased in ‘Filmbar Frightmare Series’
This October, the Filmbar in Phoenix pays homage to old school monsters like werewolves, vampires and the original Steampunk spook, Frankenstien. It’s all part of the “Filmbar Frightmare Series,” the Halloween version of their monthly themed programming showcase.
The series kicks off with the Mel Brooks comedy spoof, Young Frankenstein, on October 2, then begins with frightful earnest by showing the original Frankenstien film on October 6, 8 and 10, 2013.
Whether you are a zombie fan, a Steampunk enthusiast, a sci-fi fanatic – or if you just simply love great films – if you have never seen the classic black & white Frankenstien (1931), then you are missing out on one of the best movies ever made. Give yourself and a loved one a pre-Halloween treat and check out this movie.
The rest of the “Frightmare” series is filled with the following classic gems:
- Young Frankenstein – October 2 and 30.
- Frankenstein – on October 6, 8 and 10.
- The Lost Boys – October 13, 14 and 16.
- An American Werewolf in London – October 20, 22 and 24.
- Psycho – October 26, 27 and 28.
On Halloween evening, October 31, the venue will host a special evening of activities that will include a screening of Dario Argento’s Dracula (staring Rutger Hauer as the vampire hunter, Van Helsing), followed by the “Horror Remix,” which “takes forgotten horror classics and slices them down to a power-packed themed anthology,” then the evening will be capped off with the live-action Dr. Diabolic Show, hosted by local hero and mad scientist, the demented Dr. Diabolic.
