Relive the gaming glory days at Retrocade event
For many these days, the idea of grabbing a handful of quarters and trooping to an arcade instead of merely logging into a game from home seems an outlandish idea. This, however, is the spirit behind the inaugural Retrocade event set for Aug. 9-10 by the Gaming Zone and This Old Arcade in Tempe.
The event will take place at the Gaming Zone store in Tempe, where the venue will be packed with dozens of arcade machines.
According to the organizers, cabinets loaded with classic games such as Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Tetris, The Simpsons, House of the Dead, and more will be present throughout the weekend. Best of all, every machine will be switched to “free play” mode for the entirety of the event, and there might even be a little throwback tournament action.
Tickets are currently on sale for $10 per a day pass or $15 for a weekend pass, and can be purchased at the Gaming Zone store. The day Retrocade kicks off, tickets will go up to $12 per a day pass and $20 for weekend entry. For more information, check out their Facebook event page.
