Some urban legends really are true.

Xbox Entertainment was on hand to chronicle the discovery of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial cartridges and other Atari products at a New Mexico landfill, 25 years to the day they were supposedly buried when the bottom fell out of the nascent video game market.
Atari had bet big on their adaptation of E.T., way overestimating demand for the game — which is widely seen as one of the worst experiences as a game in general and as a movie tie-in (a lofty achievement, indeed).
Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment is producing a documentary about the video games industry. Also on hand was the E.T. game’s designer.
