Red Tails trailer: Lucasfilm produces something that doesn’t look terrible
Well, this is a surprise.
Over the years, we’ve all been accustomed to the gold Lucasfilm logo appearing for movies that are determined to destroy our childhoods. This time, the logo shows up over a historical drama about the Tuskegee Airmen. And, based on the trailer, it doesn’t look bad.
With a story by executive producer George Lucas, Red Tails stars Emmy-winner Bryan Cranston, Oscar-nominee Terence Howard, and Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (hopefully redeeming himself for years of bad choices). It’s the true story of the World War II pilots who battled racism to become the first African-American combat squadron. From the looks of things, there will be a lot of high-flying action and inspirational derring-do. Imagine a period Top Gun crossed with Remember the Titans, and you get the idea.
The pressure will be on Lucas to not botch the whole affair. That means no Gungans and absolutely no flying refrigerators. Please.
