Vintage movie poster auction includes many Star Wars pieces
An auction in Beverly Hills later this month will see some rare Star Wars posters on the block. They were released between 1977 and 1982 and include a nylon banner produced for the original film’s initial release and a George Lucas-autographed poster produced for a Star Wars concert series with artwork by John Alvin, featuring R2-D2 and C-3P0 as a two-droid band. It also includes “nearly all poster styles” seen in U.S. theaters for the original trilogy, plus many rare foreign versions used in Russia, Poland, Japan, France, the UK and Germany.
Disneyana collectors will be interested in Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck posters from the 1930s and ’40s and classics from Hollywood’s golden age, such as Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, House of Dracula and many more, including Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe serials.
