Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s investigation of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate is so the stuff of daily comic strips drama — so I’m happy to oblige. If all goes according to plan, a new strip will be up every day this week, leading to the full color finale on Sunday!

If the first governor of Arizona is buried in the middle of Phoenix, Egyptian-style, it stands to reason he could be raised in mummy-form when danger threatens his beloved desert, right? So concludes “The Fight for the 14th,” at least until next year. (Bonus trivia! Didja notice that each installment was shaded with hues from our blessed Arizona flag? Happy birthday, you Grand Canyon State, you!)

With all of the hype around 2012, I thought I’d present a few of my own apocalyptic predictions — and if any of them come even close to true, you can say you heard it here first!
One more note: I crudely colored this strip in a record thirty minutes for the Phoenix zine Pholx, and I hope to color more installments exclusively for Nerdvana, but I couldn’t predict when that will start. Zombie Vice President Joseph Smith, on the other hand . . .

Truth be told, I hate zombies. From The Walking Dead to the zillions of zombie apocalypse survival guides out there, the zombie genre has become the nerdy inside joke we’ve let grow way out of hand. Still, as a comic book artist, I’m obliged to tell at least one zombie tale in my fledgling career — so I’m glad my yarn could be spun around Bob Leeper’s “Zombie Santa!”
Bob donned the Zombie Santa garb during Evermore Nevermore’s holiday events, and I can think of no better mascot for his strange …
