Pop Culture Zoo has a report on the end of the line of Doctor Who audio adventures starring Paul McGann as the eighth incarnation of the immortal Time Lord. “To the Death” will end a series that began in 2007 with McGann and Sheridan Smith as companion Lucie Miller, but McGann actually joined Big Finish in 2001 to reprise the role he created for Fox’s 1996 TV movie based on the classic British sci-fi drama.

Big Finish Productions — which produces original, full-cast Doctor Who stories on audio — has released an animated adventure that leads into the next series of adventures starring Bernice Summerfield, a former companion to the traveling Time Lord in Virgin’s line of original novels.

A post on Tom Baker’s official website reveals that the longtime iconic Doctor Who star has been in talks to record a story for Big Finish Productions, which has been making new adventures with the show’s original stars since before the TV series was resurrected in 2005.
Last year Baker recorded Hornets’ Nest, a series of five original plays for BBC Audio. His 1974-81 stint in Doctor Who is widely considered to be the definitive take on the itinerant Time Lord.

Big Finish Productions is filling up the TARDIS again for its latest batch of Doctor Who audio dramas.
The company, which was producing original, full-cast stories with performers from the original television series long before the cult British sci-fi classic was resurrected on-screen in 2005, has announced that Sarah Sutton, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson will be returning to the roles of Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough alongside the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison.

Big Finish Productions, masters of modern audio drama who kept Doctor Who alive with the original cast during the show’s long absence from the screen, are delving deeper into the show’s forgotten past. After 10 years of partnership, the BBC has renewed Big Finish Productions’ license to create full-cast original audio dramas based on Doctor Who.
Long before the TV series was relaunched in 2005, Big Finish kept the flame alive using talent that had long been producing unauthorized audio adventures and would eventually contribute some of the new series’ most memorable episodes.
