Report: Arizona lost out on $708M in revenue from online shoppers this year

Cronkite News Service reports via the Arizona Capitol Times that online shoppers thumbed their nose at the state to the tune of an estimated $708 million in potential tax revenue.

Brick-and-mortar businesses, especially the smaller ones, are eager to level the playing field on state and federal levels with online retailers, who they say are unfairly using their establishments as showrooms and getting a substantial pass for doing so.

Amazon.com, for its part, announced back in October that it would settle a dispute with Arizona over unpaid sales taxes and begin collecting salex tax on items ordered starting next year.
