Chandler girls, Brophy boys get Nike nationals invite

Posted by on June 10, 2011 – 4:40 pm

Defending girls champion Chandler was no surprise as one of the 12 girls teams invited to attend the second Nike Track Nationals, scheduled for June 25 in Eugene, Ore. The official invites went out on Friday.

Chandler was the top team from Arizona and the Southwest Region and No. 2 in the nation in the ranking system Nike uses to pick the 12 girls and 12 boys teams that take part in the meet. The top girls team is Long Beach Poly and No. 3 is another California school, Clovis West from Fresno.

Phoenix Brophy Prep earned a trip to the meet by being the top team in the Southwest Region. The Broncos are ranked 10th overall. Desert Vista just missed an invite and was the first team left out of the boys meet after finishing the season ranked 12th.

Both teams put in a lot of work to get back to NTN this year! Can’t wait to see how we do.

BTW: I find it crazy that 10(out of 49)people on the poll question think the Chandler Girls will finish 7th-12th. Do they know these girls are one of the top two teams in the nation on most polls?
