The good shots – and good times – keep rolling for the Red Mountain boys golf team.

The Division I-defending state champions are at it again.  A couple weeks after winning the Ahwatukee Cup tournament, the Lions took first place in the prestigious Brophy Invitational this weekend at Grayhawk Country Club.

Red Mtn led by seven strokes after Friday’s first round, and wound up with a 16-stroke advantage ahead of second-place Hamilton and third place Brophy.

Kolton Lapa was the individual medalist with a two-day total of  2-under par 106. Brett Wilson finished second with a 1-under total of 107.

Colton West shot an even-par 72 while Tim Taylor and J.T. Rodenkirch shot 75 and 76, respectively.

Unofficially, the Lions’overall tournament team score of 435 for the two days was the lowest score ever shot in the tournament’s history.

Following a couple head-to-head matches against Mountain Pointe and Mountain View this week, the Lions head to the Antigua National tournament at McCormick Ranch.  Hosted by Hamilton, it’s a tournament which brings in several schools from around the country.
