Parker Rasmussen has separated shoulder
Desert Ridge quarterback Parker Rasmussen has a grade 1 separated shoulder, and while he should be cleared to play on Friday against Mesa, coach Jeremy Hathcock may be extra cautious and have him sit out.
Rasmussen suffered the injury early in the third quarter against Basha and didn’t play the rest of the game. He did rack up 166 rushing yards, 128 passing yards and four total touchdowns before getting hurt in the 63-24 win. A grade 1 separation is the least severe, Hathcock said.
The offense moved as well as it has all year, as Rasmussen, Jordan Becerra (155 yards, 3 TD) and Joey Counts (126 yards, 2 TD) all had good rushing totals.
“The key is to get everybody the right amount of touches,” Hathcock said.
Becerra will start at quarterback if Rasmussen doesn’t play.
The Jaguars will get back wide receiver Manny Figueroa for Friday’s game. He hasn’t played yet this season after breaking his collarbone in a preseason scrimmage.
