Spring sports coaches: Take heed
A public service announcement to spring sports’ varsity coaches:
Before everyone scatters for the summer — if they haven’t already — Varsity Xtra is trying to tie up several loose ends as the school year comes to a close.
The two biggest “ends” are postseason awards and All-Tribune packages.
Here’s the deal:
Any baseball, softball, boys volleyball, tennis and track coaches who have copies of (or access to) the complete All-Section, All-Division, All-City, All-whatever teams were chosen should send them to us — varsity@evtrib.com.
We’ll post those to our Varsity Xtra blog on the website as soon as they come in.
They also (to some degree) help us in choosing our All-Tribune teams, but everything pales in comparison to coaches input.
Here’s the other deal:
If you haven’t already, please send All-Tribune nominations from your school (kid’s names, year in school, position, noteworthy awards/stats/accomplishments) along with a (anonymous) vote for Player of the Year and Coach of the Year from the East Valley (Brophy/Xavier/St. Mary’s east to Apache Junction/Queen Creek; Cactus Shadows/Horizon/Paradise Valley south to Basha/Queen Creek/San Tan Foothills, plus the Ahwatukee schools).
For baseball and boys volleyball send them to Kyle Odegard: kodegard@evtrib.com.
For softball and boys/girls tennis send them to yours truly: mheller@evtrib.com.
For boys/girls track and field send them to Steve Burks: sburks@evtrib.com.
The faster we get 50 schools’ worth of input, the faster we can print our final postseason packages of the 2011-2012 school year.
