Hard to believe, but true: The first state tournaments begin this weekend.

It’s badminton, which runs Friday and Saturday, with the championship matches for singles and doubles happening Saturday in the (approximately) early afternoon at Sunnyslope High School.

The team championship matches begin on Monday with the semifinals on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Phoenix Sunnyslope H.S. and the championship match on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Sunnyslope.
