Former Westwood basketball coach Edward “Buddy” Doolen was recently elected into the Pima County Sports Hall-of-Fame. His induction was held Oct. 21.
Doolen won 381 career games as Westwood’s coach, and is already part of the Mesa Hall of Fame. He was enshrined in Pima Co. because he won the state title in the decathlon at Catalina High, was a starting guard for the University of Arizona basketball team and started in the secondary for the UA football team.
His father, B.C. “Bud” Doolen, won five state championships as a basketball coach at Tucson High.
