Basketball tournaments wrapping up

Three boys basketball tournaments have their championship games set and a fourth has a star-studded semifinals tonight.

The Fear the Hop finals will feature No. 7 Gilbert against No. 2 Mesa at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mesa High. The Tigers have been the most impressive team at the tournament, winning all three of their games. The Jackrabbits dropped their exhibition opener to Hamilton but have won both of their bracket matchups to advance.

Poston Butte defeated No. 1 Dobson in the season opener and has made it to the championship game of the Catalina Hardwood Classic. The Broncos, the No. 3 ranked team in Division II, will face off with Tucson Sahuaro.

Brophy is in the finals of the Ironwood Desert Classic tonight at 7 p.m. against Avondale Westview.

The semifinals of the Paradise Valley Invitational feature No. 1 Paradise Valley (D2) vs. No. 5 Desert Mountain (D1) and No. 6 Cesar Chavez (D1) vs. No. 10 Chaparral (D1) tonight at 7 and 8:30 p.m. The winners of those games will play on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Paradise Valley.

On the girls side, the Highland Thanksgiving Tournament championship game will take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Highland.
