The first version of the boys basketball power rankings have been released, and while there are plenty of games left to be played, it gives an initial indication of which teams are sitting pretty and which have work to do.

In Division I, defending champion Corona del Sol sits in the top spot, while Mesa (2), Hamilton (7), Chaparral (8), Dobson (9) and Highland (10) are the other East Valley teams in the top-10. The postseason consists of 24 teams, and as of today Gilbert (11), Marcos de Niza (13), Pinnacle (14), Desert Mountain (15), Brophy (16), Desert Vista (18) and Mountain View (20) would be the other East Valley teams to qualify. Teams like Red Mountain (28), Mesquite (33) and Perry (34) have plenty of time to move up.

In Division II, Paradise Valley (3), Saguaro (6), Cactus Shadows (9) and Notre Dame (14) are the East Valley teams in the top-24. Poston Butte is 5-2 and could be a state title contender but is only No. 34 currently.

Not surprisingly, defending champion Gilbert Christian is atop the rankings in Division III, while Scottsdale Christian (5) and Valley Christian (21) are in the top-24.

Scottsdale Prep (9) and Tempe Prep (22) are the two Division IV East Valley teams in the top-24.
