Brophy soccer heads to Disney
How this works out logistically we’ll never know, but while most of the rest of Arizona boys soccer teams are approaching the stretch run in power rankings matches and playoff jostling, Brophy is nearly 2,000 miles away.
The Broncos are playing in the Monteverde Academy Soccer Tournament for the second consecutive season, a collection of eight very elite soccer programs (mostly private schools) from around the country who descend on the Orlando area for a few days of out-of-state competition.
The tournament begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday. The Broncos will faces American-Heritage Delray (Fla.) at 12 p.m. (Arizona time) on Thursday, Jan. 10. If Brophy wins it’ll play the winner of Thursday’s Boca Raton vs. Auburndale match on Friday at 4 p.m. If Brophy loses it’ll faces the loser of the aforementioned match at 12 p.m. on Friday.
Each team is guaranteed to play three matches in the tournament. The championship match is Saturday at 5:30 p.m., with the runner-up match at 2:30 p.m.
