Marcos de Niza standout DB transfers to Mountain Pointe
Marcos de Niza standout cornerback Dominique Fenstermacher has transferred to Mountain Pointe, he said Tuesday.
Fenstermacher had 51 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a team-high seven interceptions last season for the Padres. He played alongside Priest Willis, the top-rated senior recruit in the East Valley, and now will be in the same secondary as Jalen Brown, the Mountain Pointe star who will be one of the state’s top recruits in 2014.
Fenstermacher had three interceptions in the team’s Division II state quarterfinal victory over Chaparral. The 5-foot-11, 167-pound junior said he has been offered scholarships by Nebraska and Arizona.
Mountain Pointe lost to Hamilton in the Division I state championship game this season. The Pride had one of the better defenses in the state, and could once again in 2013 with Brown, Fenstermacher and Natrell Curtis leading the charge.
