Posted by Kyle Odegard on January 28, 2013 – 11:52 am
The boys basketball community lost a respected coach on Sunday when Phil Clark died of an apparent heart attack. He was 39.
Clark was the junior varsity coach at Basha this season and a varsity assistant.
He was also very involved in the club basketball scene during the summer and had strong relationships with dozens of players throughout the East Valley.
There was an outpouring of support on social media in remembrance of Clark. He was the stepdad of Cole Kepler, who plays varsity basketball at Basha.
“If you played basketball in the (Chandler) area, you knew who Coach Phil was,” Kepler told CTownRivals.com. “He was really passionate and intense. He spent a lot of that energy on other people.”

So sorry to hear this. My son played on a team with his younger son. Yes very intense but also very caring and positive towards all the kids. My prayers go out to his family and friends. Rest in peace.
