Corona del Sol boys hoops adds another impact transfer
The rich just got richer.
Highly-touted transfer Dane Kuiper will play for the Corona del Sol boys basketball team next season, his mom, Shannon, said.
Kuiper averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from 3-point range last year for Wasilla High in Wasilla, Alaska. Kuiper is a 6-foot-6 sophomore shooting guard who has a scholarship offer from South Dakota State. The move was first reported by ArizonaVarsity.com.
The Aztecs have won two straight state titles and return reigning Tribune Player of the Year Casey Benson along with Cassius Peat. Former Desert Vista and Westwind national team standout Connor MacDougall, an Arizona State commitment, transferred to Corona del Sol this semester and may also be eligible to play all or parts of next season. MacDougall averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game for Westwind national.
Corona del Sol also has one of the best freshmen in the state in Tyrell Henderson.
The Aztecs will likely be the preseason No. 1 team in Arizona as they aim for a third straight title. They also have a marquee matchup against Nevada powerhouse Findlay Prep set for Jan. 4, 2014.
