Desert Mtn. QB Kyle Allen chooses Aggies
Desert Mountain quarterback Kyle Allen, one of the top high school QB prospects in the country, gave a verbal commitment to Texas A&M on Monday afternoon.
Allen, ranked as the No. 1 high school quarterback in the country for the 2014 class according to Scout.com, narrowed his choices down to Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and UCLA last week.
“He really liked the football atmosphere there and the appeal of SEC football,” Wolves coach Tony Tabor said. “(Texas A&M coach) Kevin Sumlin is a hot commodity right now.”
Allen is entering his third year as the starter this fall at Desert Mountain. As a junior, he completed 72 percent of his passes for 3,119 yards, 36 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season to lead Desert Mountain back into the postseason.
Allen, along with teammate and highly-sought recruit in wide receiver Mark Andrews (undecided), are expected to be another top-notch passing duo threat this fall for the Wolves.
