Senior-to-be Gary McKay has transferred from Chaparral to Desert Mountain, according to both schools’ football coaches.

Both Desert Mountain coach Tony Tabor and Chaparral coach Dave Huffine said McKay was looking for a change of scenery.  Tabor said he called Huffine when McKay showed up at school, and McKay’s mother moved into Desert Mountain’s attendance boundaries.

McKay saw regular playing time as a junior at Chaparral. He had 27 tackles, two interceptions, two blocked field goals and 14 passes defended as a defensive back.  He also averaged 26.62 yards on 13 kickoff returns.
