Scottsdale Prep hires former standout Texas coach to lead girls volleyball program

Posted by on July 16, 2013 – 4:15 pm

The Scottsdale Prep girls volleyball team made an impressive hire today, selecting LeAnn Thomsen to take over the program.

Thomsen was the Big Country Coach of the Year when she led Abilene (Texas) Wylie  to a 34-1 record and an appearance in the state semifinals in 2010. In 2011, she led Wylie to a 30-4 record and a berth in the state finals, garnering the 2011 1A-3A Texas Coach of the Year award. She is married to Chris Thomsen, who was hired as the Arizona State football team’s running backs coach in January.

Scottsdale Prep went 11-11 last season and returns its top two players from a year ago, seniors Sydney Bell and Stephanie Prince.
