Posted by on August 22, 2013 – 12:12 pm

Mountain Pointe baseball shortstop Cole Tucker was one of 20 players named to the 18U National Team following five days of tryouts this week in California. The trials took place at Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, University of San Diego and Dodger Stadium.

Tucker will take part in the 2013 IBAF Junior ‘AAA”/18U World Cup in Taichung, Taiwan beginning on Aug. 30. The medal round competition begins on Sept. 8. Team USA won last year’s world championships and is expected to be in the running again.

Tucker is committed to Arizona. He batted .415 last season with a .526 on-base percentage and a team-high 33 runs scored for the Pride. He was the only Arizona player chosen for the team.
