Satran is batting .418 this season and has scored 28 runs for Arcadia, which is ranked fifth in the Tribune’s latest Division II rankings.
Arcadia has five regular season games left and then an undetermined amount of postseason contests. …

Our Sunday cover story was about Highland baseball player Jordan Pingree, who has returned to the diamond after missing a year and a half with brain trauma from concussions.
The introduction to the story focuses on a line drive that nailed teammate Garrett Repp in the Highland dugout earlier this season. If the ball hit Pingree, it could have cost him his life. Repp emailed us about how he felt immediately after the incident happened. Here are his words:
In regards to Kyle Odegard’s article: “Coming Out of the Fog.” This is …

But if you want to catch some pretty talented high school athletes from across the East Valley, Arizona, the southwest and even nationally (and catch a tan for those capable of doing so), this is a weekend to …

The Dylan Cozens circus involving Chaparral and Desert Mountain supposedly ended earlier this week when the Arizona Interscholastic Association ruled the baseball player was eligible at Chaparral after being removed from Desert Mountain’s team last April.
After hearing about the move from outsiders — not Chaparral — a year ago, the AIA shut him down for the 2011 season on the basis that he was removed from Desert Mountain’s baseball team for disciplinary reasons.
Under AIA bylaws, a student isn’t allowed to switch schools and immediately be eligible to play when disciplinary …

The Highland baseball team won all five of its games in the Panther Classic last week in Tucson, defeating Canyon del Oro, 9-5, for the tournament title.
The Hawks only won 13 games last season, and are nearly halfway to that win total already this year. Pitcher/first baseman Cody Moffet is the team’s star and he had a three-run double to kickstart the win over the Dorados. Moffet is committed to Arizona.
Here is a game recap of the win over Canyon del Oro from the Tucson Citizen.

While we continue to hammer away at spring sports previews and All-Tribune for the winter sports — I promise we’ll (eventually) get them all done — the spring sports season might offer the most interesting nuggets in terms of the realignments and re-configurations that were approved last year.
As more individualized sports, track and field and tennis already went through transformations last spring, with the number of divisions reduced and varying track qualifying standards from the past. Another tweak or two was made this year to the state championship meets. Notably, …
