Ten individuals and four Mesa schools’ championship teams will be inducted into the Mesa City Sports Hall of Fame next month.
The inductees:
Joel Anderson:  A state champion wrestler and TCA Games Gold Medalist (world’s Toughest Competitor Alive games for police/firefighters). He graduated from Mountain View  in 1995.
Jeremy Accardo:   An MLB Pitcher who graduated from Mesa in 1999, he pitched out of the bullpen in Baltimore in 2011
Sharise Blau Nunes:  A state champion swimmer who graduated from Red Mountain in 1999.
Brian Gray:  A state champion in the high jump who graduated …

More headaches for both the AIA and its member schools surfaced this week regarding the new computer schedules and supposed geographic realignment.
Since opponents for team sports were released earlier this month, athletic directors and their coaches were supposed to have the 2011-2012 dates for all team sports (including football) finalized on Thursday.
Unfortunately, more glitches have pushed that back to May.
Now, athletic directors and coaches are supposed to find out their schedules on May 3.

Former Mountain View swimmer excels at NCAA championships

Former Mountain View swimmer Breeja Larson swam to a NCAA runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
The A&M freshman broke the school record in the morning prelims, then again in the evening session. With her time of 58.51 seconds, she is the first Aggie to go under the 59 second barrier in the 100 breaststroke.
