The difference is that this all-star game (put on by the BB coaches) is after spring sports are finished. The athletic school year is done, and thus this does not conflist with any ongoing HS sports seasons, even though many schools are still in session. The all-star game in January was right in the middle of the winter sports season and the AIA feels that all-star games should not conflict with ognoing HS sports. I agree with the AIA on this one.

Wait a second here!!! School is still in session and they are having all star game. When football did so there was a huge uproar because of the coaches but basketball coaches and underclassmen can compete in these??? Sounds fishy AIA!!!

Good call you’re absolutely correct. Apologies. Though I’d still argue this year’s run was more impressive in a few other ways (notably the teams this year’s group beat and/or played very closely), and more difficult competition overall.
I believe Michelle Duncan was pitching for Gilbert that year, and, D-Ridge’s Jackie Hernandez had a big day against Gilbert in that 2-1 tournament win over the Tigers playing as a freshman (now a senior).

Not true Heller the Jags were in the same spot about 2 or 3 years ago when they went to the quarterfinals. Check your facts first. They beat the top team in the state that year to get there. It was Gilbert and they had that Stud pitcher, (not sure of her name though).
