Every college football coach in America took to their press conferences on Wednesday and proclaimed what a success National Signing Day was for the future of their programs.
It’s the job of new in-state coaches Rich Rodriguez and Todd Graham to do so, but based on the actual (though obviously subjective) rankings, both coaches struck out.
Arizona State was ranked eighth in the Pac-12 by Rivals.com and Scout.com. Arizona fared even worse, ranking 11th in the conference by Rivals and No. 10 by Scout.
Fans can use the coaching changes as an excuse, …

Jaxon Hood has never been shy about speaking his mind.
The Hamilton defensive tackle felt he was undervalued by recruiting services and college coaches alike, and told it to anyone willing to listen.
He made a verbal commitment to Boston College in December when it looked like the in-state schools wouldn’t offer him a scholarship, but whether it was his talking or his play on the field, eventually Arizona and Arizona State noticed. Rich Rodriguez and Todd Graham both offered a scholarship to Hood shortly after they were hired, and he flipped …

Every time Arizona State or Arizona brings in a new football coach, he inevitably talks about the importance of keeping the top in-state players home.
More often than not, it seemed like lip service, and neither program has done a particularly good job of nailing down local recruits.
But despite Corona del Sol standout lineman Andrus Peat passing on ASU, there still might be some bark to the bite with Rich Rodriguez and Todd Graham.
Hamilton defensive tackle Jaxon Hood didn’t have an in-state offer from either school under the old regimes, and …

It’s becoming increasingly likely that fired Saguaro football coach John Sanders lands in a role with the Arizona State football program.
Sanders met with new Sun Devils coach Todd Graham on Saturday and sources said the meeting was productive. Scout.com is reporting that Sanders will join the ASU football program in the next few days.
In an interview on Thursday, Sanders said he had multiple job offers following his firing at Saguaro, but that his preference would be to stay in Arizona near his family. He expressed admiration for Graham and said …

The new Arizona State football coaching staff will get to make an in-person recruiting pitch to Tribune Player of the Year D.J. Foster for the first time on Wednesday.
A recruiting dead period coincided with the hiring of Todd Graham to replace Dennis Erickson at ASU, and now Graham is expected to put the full-court press on getting a commitment from Foster, one of the highest rated recruits in the state.
The senior running back from Saguaro nearly committed to Arizona State on Nov. 4, but watched as the team’s season unraveled, …

With Saguaro’s season ending on Saturday and Arizona State officially firing Dennis Erickson today, running back D.J. Foster’s recruiting focus may become clearer in the next few weeks (or however long it takes for the Sun Devils to hire a new coach).
Here’s a recap of what’s gone on thus far:
* Foster was originally going to choose between Arizona State and Oregon on Friday, Nov. 4. The plan was to do a taped segment on Nov. 3 and then have the choice air on recruiting analyst Tom Lemming’s television show. Due …

Saguaro star running back D.J. Foster will not choose his collegiate destination until the conclusion of his high school season, coach John Sanders said.
Foster originally planned on making his intentions public on November 4, but pushed it back a week. He delayed the decision again, and now does not have a set date.
“I’ve had lengthy discussions with his parents and D.J.,” Sanders said. “He wants to let all the dust settle and get through our season. It’s his senior year. D.J.’s putting everything on hold right now, then we’ll sit …

Oregon or Arizona State?
Scottsdale Saguaro running back D.J. Foster will make his college destination public on Nov. 4 on Tom Lemming’s show ‘The Lemming Report’ on a CBS affiliate.
(EDIT: I accidentally had Nov. 3 as the announcement date, but that is the day the segment will be taped, Saguaro coach John Sanders said.)
“I don’t know if I’m 100 percent positive right now (on a decision),” Foster said. “I still need to talk to my family some more and make sure everyone is along with it, but every day I get …

The Arizona State football team’s 2012 recruiting class is already well-stocked, and at this point, the Sun Devils look like the leaders for Saguaro star D.J. Foster.
The versatile athlete can play cornerback, safety, running back or wide receiver at the collegiate level, and he has scholarship offers from dozens of schools. Foster is rated as a four-star prospect, and is generally considered one of the four elite prospects in the state this season, along with Corona del Sol’s Andrus Peat and Chaparral’s Davonte Neal and Connor Brewer.
Sabercats coach John Sanders …

Former Gilbert High star shortstop Drew Stankiewicz will play for Arizona State this season after de-committing from Cal State Fullerton following a coaching change.
Titans coach Dave Serrano left to take over the program at Tennessee in mid-June, leaving Stankiewicz to re-assess his options. He considered the Volunteers and looked closely at Vanderbilt, but ultimately chose the Sun Devils because of the team’s long track record of success.
“I want to win,” Stankiewicz said. “I want to go to the College World Series.”
Stankiewicz hit .397 with seven homers and 25 RBIs this …
