Dallas Escobedo mowed down hitters at an impressive rate in her decorated four years at Phoenix St. Mary’s.
Now the Arizona State freshman hurler is already making an impression on the college softball landscape.
Escobedo was named the Amateur Softball Association’s Collegiate Player of the Week after going 4-0 with a 1.15 earned run average last week, including victories over No. 22 Oklahoma State and No. 6 Oklahoma.
She struck out 28 batters in 18 1/3 innings pitched and held batters to a .143 average. Escobedo had two complete games and one shutout.

Former St. Mary’s softball pitcher Dallas Escobedo dominated the local prep scene for four years, and don’t be surprised if she makes an immediate impact next year at Arizona State.
But during this transition time, she’s taking her game international.

Escobedo is one of 17 athletes chosen for USA Softball’s Junior National Team.
She will compete at the Pan American Softball Championships in Bogota, Columbia in early August. The tournament is a qualifier for the World Championships in Cape Town, South Africa, in December 2011.

St. Mary’s senior Dallas Escobedo was named Arizona’s Gatorade softball player of the year and is a finalist for national player of the year.
The 6-foot-1 pitcher led the Knights (33-3) to the 5A Division I state title game this past season. She went 33-3 with a 0.06 earned run average while recording 500 strikeouts and 42 walks.
Escobedo recorded nine no-hitters, as well as two perfect games and allowed 40 hits in 240 innings.
She batted .412 with eight home runs and 28 RBI, amassing a .701 slugging percentage. Escobedo concluded her …
