This new football passing-league tournament deal between the Arizona Interscholastic Association, Fiesta Bowl and Brophy isn’t a bad thing, per se. At least it doesn’t outwardly appear to be.
It offers the AIA and the Fiesta Bowl each a mini-revenue stream via advertising and participation fees, which isn’t a bad thing these days, while passing-league tournaments and 7-on-7 exhibitions continue to gain in popularity among high school programs.

The Fiesta Bowl and AIA have announced plans for the first Fiesta Bowl 7-on-7 Passing Tournament from June 25-26 and are accepting entries from high school teams for the event at Brophy’s new sports complex.
Each team playing four games to determine seeds for a double-elimination tournament the following day. Games are free and open to the public.
The passing tournament will air on www.aia365.com.
Friday’s games begin at 5:30 p.m. and will determine the seeds for a double-elimination format on Saturday morning, with games beginning at 8:00 a.m.
